The Benjamin Gautrey Foundation Cycle Event 2013

This annual leisure event took place early on the morning of Sunday 18th August attracting over 120 enthusiastic supporters. Organised once again in conjunction with Dave Williams from DHW racing. The day began before 6am with volunteers and marshalls setting up the awnings and Benjamin's racing bikes at Meols Hall in Churchtown. Cyclists began arriving from 7.30 to register and began their prefered route of either 30 or 50k. Both routes began in the direction of Scarisbrick and headed out towards Parbold. The 30km course follows a fairly casual route and there are numerous places to stop for refreshment or simply to admire the view. The 50k is more challenging and takes in some undulating scenery as the journey progresses through the quaint towns and villages of Mawdesley, Eccleston and Croston. There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the event and it even attracted an unusual elliptical bike and a tandem.
